La Danse! Le Burlesque! L'Edition Francaise! is an evening of three original dance and burlesque works choreographed by Lily Verlaine (Artistic Director and Choreographer of The Burlesque Nutcracker), Kitten LaRue (Artistic Director and Choreographer of The Atomic Bombshells) and Olivier Wevers (Artistic Director and Choreographer, Whim W'Him).
Together, the three choreographers have created an homage to iconic French musicians Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, France Gall, Francoise Hardy, Jocylene and Hughes LeBars. If you haven't heard of these artists, you won't regret having made their acquaintance at this wonderful show. It features the talents of Miss Indigo Blue, Kitten LaRue, Lily Verlaine, Bunny Monroe, The Luminious Pariah, Paris Original, Changra La-La, Trojan Original, Stella Saintclair, Inga Ingenue, Sassy DeLure and Scott Bartell (Both of whom will be flying in from across the country to entertain you!). The evening will also feature the formidable talents of Kylie Lewallen and Ty Cheng of Spectrum Dance Theater.
There is just too much to say about this show, but join us for surreal sunbathing (you know how the French do it!), howling cats, lusty sojourns in Paris hotels and other francophilic delights!
L'Edition Francaise!, now in its second run, artfully blurs the distinction between burlesque and dance, guiding our regional obsession with both art forms into sophisticated territory. In three individual short programs the choreographers explore eros, farce, manipulation, naïveté and alluring indifference.
